Clerkenwell is home to numerous creative businesses and architects, and where better to host a series of showroom events, pop-up installations and special exhibitions that makes the Clerkenwell Design Week. Increation headed out to get inspired and find interesting new design. Here is what we found on our visit.
Our favourite place to visit during the festival was the subterranean House of Detention, introducing ‘Platform’, a new addition to the Clerkenwell Design week that recognises up-and-coming design talent and international cutting-edge design.
The very first thing that caught our eyes at the Clerkenwell Design Week was THE ROCKSTAR, a gorgeous whisky bar handmade by the creatives at Buster + Punch. Being able to view their new ELECTRICITY and HEAVY METAL ranges up close and personal which we’d previously ogled over through newspaper cuttings and magazine features stole the show for us. Keep an eye out for their official launch in August, we’re sure something special will be in the pipeline.
A trend we spotted at the Clerkenwell Design Week was the use of concrete in lighting design. Decode London have mastered using an everyday material in an unconventional context. These amazing pendants designed by Benjamin Hubert turn a material otherwise considered industrial, into a smooth and welcoming addition to a home.
Bent by hand and made out of one single sheet of aluminium, these stunning pendants would be perfect for incorporating the geometrical trend in your home. ‘And Then Design’ were launching their Flora pendants this week at the Clerkenwell Design Week.
