Our Increation workshops often receive very complex bespoke cabinetry projects from our residential business partners. It is an honour that we are entrusted with such specialist work, and it is what our joiners thrive on. One such assignment started out earlier in the year with very specific instructions to produce a highly particular kitchen finish for one most exacting of clients. Our Workshops Manager takes us through the process.
The main feature of the floor to ceiling kitchen storage units would be the deep grained elm doors. Wire brushed to millimetre precision of depth, the contrasting horizontal and vertical grains give the kitchen real presence and majesty.
To juxtapose the coarse lines of the elm, the frontage was accented by a distinctive rosewood strip. Each hand cut square of veneer was rotated 90° and painstakingly adhered to the solid wooden doors to produce a playful chequerboard effect.
Once the veneers had settled, we sprayed each door with a bespoke coating consisting of a thinned black stain premixed with a polyurethane lacquer to give a satin gloss finish. The cabinetry was finished off with tailored French made handles and the customary Increation seal of approval.
