Brass has been one of the biggest design trends for 2013 and it looks set to stay as the craze for polished metal continues into autumn/winter. Perhaps one of the reasons brass has been so popular is its ability to complement tonal neutrals and other metals. Or maybe it’s ability to give interiors a sense of warmth or feeling of the exotic.
At Increation we’ve been particularly enchanted by these Charles Edwards light fixtures. This Pagoda Globe would be a perfect way to achieve a sense of antiquated elegance whilst the brass finish would help to give of a bright, warm glow. This particular design was inspired by an original English lantern from 1890 but retains influences from the Far East - the dome of the globe reminiscent of a traditional pagoda. The brass will initially have a smooth reflective surface but over time this finish will eventually dull to an attractive soft golden-brown tone.
However, if the antiquated charm of brass finish isn’t what you’re looking for, (perhaps you’d rather the opulent golden tones of distressed gilt), Charles Edwards are able to produce any of their designs in your specified finish, from metal or paint colour. With fixtures inspired by the Gothic era to Mid-century modern, it’s no wonder that you can find them on the walls of New York apartments, British stately homes, cheateuxs, yachts, palaces and the finest hotels. Charles himself, however, prefers to keep a relatively low profile, working with leading design professionals and craftsmen to provide a bespoke service which continually “turns expectations into reality.”
