Valentines special: Remarkable restaurant interiors

Hip crowds come to enjoy inventive modern French cuisine at Shoreditch's flamboyant Les Trois Garcons. It’s London’s most extravagant restaurant with its interior design consisting of stuffed animals (a lion, a swordfish, an antelope with a tiara…), giant wine glasses, a working model carousel and more. Despite its eccentricities there is still a formality to the dining room; large tables, pristine white tablecloths and Louis-style chairs suggest that they are serious about their food. Les Trois Garcons proves its talents in the kitchen with its fine French style cuisine.

No two items of furniture or pieces of tableware are the same in Sketch’s The Gallery, a dining room conceived by Turner Prize winning Martin Creed. Different types of Marble tiles zigzag across the floor, while squares and stripes are painted in bold colours across the walls.

Ascend the stairs to the Lecture Room, a sophisticated, exclusive & luxurious Michelin star fine dining restaurant, created by leading interior designer Gahban O’Keeffe. Describing the Lecture Room in one word with its custom-made armchairs covered in chenille, crimson and gold carpets, leather-padded walls in; extravagance.

British designer Tom Dixon has completed the interior of the Restaurant at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.

With materials chosen to complement the existing fabric of the Regency building including marble, brass and velvet, the 250 m2 refurbishment features a free-standing metal-framed glass unit to house sculptures, a bar made of lava stone, handmade bricks lines one end of the room and furniture and lighting designed by Dixon including a new range of chairs and the perforated Etch lamps.
