A Day in the Life…Interior Designer
1st December 2010 (All day)
_

This week Increation's Interior Designer, Tom Phillips, tells us about a general day at Increation.

6.15am: The alarm goes off, but I snooze until 6.30!

6.45am: After a quick shower, a round of toast and a morning coffee to wake me up.

8am: Today I am off to our client Ann’s house in Mayfair for our third design session. Designing with my clients is one of my favorite parts of the job; visiting clients homes and bringing out their creative side. Seeing them get excited about the changes and improvements we can help them make to their home. Through every step of designing we make sure we not only understand what our clients like, but how they live and who they are, this makes a real difference.

11.30: I head back to our offices and workshop in East London for our weekly team meeting. Working in the same building as all our cabinet makers allows us to work closely together to create unique solutions for our clients. We have a catch up and run through all the projects to ensure everything is to schedule.

2pm: Back at my desk, I start to write up my notes from my meeting with Ann and work on the drawings for her project so that next time we meet we can look at them and double check all the decisions we made. Then I book appointment with our supplier for next week so I can take Ann to hand pick the veneer for her kitchen.

4.30pm: Charlie our Marketing guru has arranged a phone interview for me with an editor who wants to write a piece on our last project. So I grab a quick drink of water, pull out all the drawings and paper work related to the project so I am fully prepared.

5.30pm: It’s Friday today so I finish a little earlier than usual to make my way over to Central London as I have tickets to see one of my favorite bands!

All in all - a great day!

Why Have Bespoke Kitchens?
1st October 2009 (All day)
_

Whether you want a traditional, solid-wood, rustic affair or something more contemporary in style, bespoke kitchens offer many advantages.

Commission a bespoke kitchen and there are unlimited options for arranging the crisp lines of the design just as you want them. But bright laminates, wood veneers, solid hardwoods, mellow aluminium and extra-wide pan drawers are all hallmarks of the modern tailor-made kitchen.

Genuine designers of bespoke kitchens will create a unique room. A good way to check whether you are getting something truly bespoke - rather than an existing range which tailored to your home - is to ask for something that's not already in the brochure. If this can't be done, they don't provide genuinely bespoke kitchens.

With contemporary kitchens, any problems of awkward corners, curved walls and unusual window positions can be removed thanks to the help of a good bespoke designer.

Of course, with bespoke designer kitchens, it can take a bit longer to complete the work, but you're paying for quality craftsmanship and the job shouldn't be rushed. With high quality design and furniture, bespoke kitchens really come into their own.

At Increation, we specialise in designer kitchens. We have a real passion for what we do, and members of our highly skilled team will be with you every step of the way, from initial consultation through to installation and after-service care. We have every confidence in the quality of our materials and craftsmanship – and so should you! Learn more from our website.

Designer Bathrooms: Things to Bear in Mind Before you Start
1st October 2009 (All day)
_

Your bathroom can be one of the hardest rooms to refurbish, both because of a lack of space and the restrictions of utility supply inlets and waste outlets. Only with imagination and an up-to-date knowledge of modern design choices can you work around these limitations.

With bespoke bathrooms, the consultant will discuss the individual customer’s needs with them at length. Often, this initial consultation will be free, and computerised plans of the designs are run off before work begins.

New designer bathrooms mean more than just picking out a fresh colour. They allow you, for example, to change the room’s layout to create more storage space or a separate shower.

Given the expense of replumbing and rewiring, try and stick with the service points you already have if you can, although you may need new ones if you are completely repositioning your bathroom suite.

In terms of order of deciding where things should go, think about the bath and/or shower first, then the loo and finally where the washbasin should go. Then you can decide on how to make the best use of the remaining space.

At Increation, we specialise in bathroom designs for bespoke bathrooms. We can help you create the relaxing, indulgent sanctuary you need. We can work off your designs, or give you some inspiration of our own. And we also offer a fantastic choice of traditional and contemporary bathrooms. See our website for more information today.
